An Ode To Dr Pepper

dVerse~Poets Pub is having a party.  All forms welcome, build 'em up, break 'em down.

Ode To Dr Pepper

It wouldn't be a day
without
your sweetness
in my mouth
you fill me
i rejoice
the tickle
on my tongue
tells me
i am alive
i bow
at your aluminum
or plastic
alter
days of glass
are gone
but you're always
the one
who cools my brow
and makes me
come alive
on a sultry day
no other pop will do
i am insanely
devoted
to
you

Breaking The Ode

Dr Pepper
you are my downfall
keeping me fat
i can't live with out you
no solution to that
you rot my teeth
you break my bank
caffeine addition
i have you to thank

After reading a few, I think I blew the directions.  Oh, well,  If this were opposite day it would've worked.

there are def. drinks and food that are just so good even though we know they're not esp. good for the health....ha.. often it's the dose that makes the big difference..smiles

That one's my favorite! We don't buy it though for just that reason.

I think I tried Dr Pepper years ago.. and thankfully I was very far from hooked.. very far.. sounds a lot like smoking actually.

I am not even sure I have tried Dr Pepper. I agree with the concern over the extra sugar. Do they have Diet Dr Pepper?

I got through college on Dr. Pepper! There was a broken machine outside my dorm room which they never bothered to fix, but constantly kept full. We drank our fill and it was addictive. I've broken the pop habit at last. But I sometimes long for a DP. Loved both of these. I think you blew the cap off! Hurrah!!

Fun poems ... never did acquire a taste for Dr Pepper over here in the UK. Although it is widely available, it's too sweet for me!

This is so funny! I had thought about breaking an ode, but I couldn't figure out how. You did it wonderfully! My dad loves Diet Dr. "Peppa", and I ended up reading this with his accent in my head. Awesome, Gail!

I like your take on the prompt. Very cool and I think my hubby would agree about the dear Dr. Pepper!

Never thought Dr. Pepper could sound so sensual…and the turn around and be such a villain.

Well done!
