The Potter

I watched
as you played
in clay
                  around
                                    around
                                                               your gifted gentle hands
coaxed
 a shape
 into
being
pushing back
 your clay painted hair
unaware
you
molded
     coaxed
the clay into form
caring not
that you were clay too

I watched
      F
        A
           L
             L
               I
                 N
                   G
           in love
with your hands
        your gift
        your creation

When a person is committed to the moment, it is truly awesome indeed.

I really read the Pygmalion myth described.. The POV from the clay is excellent

Gail, I admire concrete poetry a lot and it made a great impact on me, when I was beginning to write - here you fuse it with lyrically too, as you paint your picture - very impressive... With Best Wishes scott www.scotthastie.com

This is beautiful. Working with clay at the moment I can totally relate. Some people make magic with their hands.

This is exactly what you feel when you watch or work the clay. I can see and feel this poem. Lovely job.

It's the form and shape that caught my attention in this poem!

Everything about your poem is perfect--layout, diction, joy, and spread of the clay from actual to symbolic. Love it.

The symbolism of this poem is beautifully crafted in both form and metaphor. Great poem Gail!
