you picked the wrong girl
to place roses in my hair
and paint my face for you
i pretended for awhile
but you soon knew
you couldn't call me sweet rose
i left you laying in petals and thorns
with my true face showing
i ain't nobody's hot house flower

"i ain't nobody's hot house flower". Love the way you rock the attitude in this ... very cool.
Reminded me of a quote from Margaret Trudeau (wife of Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau during the 70's and now, mother of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau) when she said: "I want to be more than a rose in my husband's lapel."
The anger, in this piece, is spot-on. No real woman is happy in a relationship where she feels expectations and pressure to hide her intelligence and abilities behind a painted mask.
I like the first photo. I like that persona best.
Powerful poetry.
I liked . . .
"I ain't nobody's hot house flower."
"i ain't nobody's hot house flower"

Roses have thorns for a reason. I like this, Gail.
Wow! That's one tough cookie.

=)
Ok, I am laughing, this was very witty and I like that second pic. A woman with a mind of her own.
i ain't nobody's hot house flower...haha - great line...
Nobody can force love. If its not the real you...its not happening.
great job...you really connected with the two different personalities!!!
Wonderful poetry and those photos, over the top with greatness! Such deep expressions in them both.
I love this! isn't that how it is in the beginning sometimes.....but our real selves always shows through.
I ain't nobody's hothouse flower either! Wonderfully crafted words!
