a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

A Chill Is In The Air...

although the sun shines and the valley is turning green.

Looking out the window I see the grass could use some mowing but Tractor Man is also Lawnmower Man. I have no skill with small engine repair so the grass grows.  I do not mention it.  I think if I had my horses this would not be a problem.  They would trim the lawn in no time and not wander off like cattle do when they have no fence.

I stand by the fireplace and pull my shirt away so the rising warmth will reach my bare skin.  Warming the core of me while I wonder what comes next.

Two thousandth post today and it seems empty for such a large milestone.

Wow 2000 I am here to tell you it warms my soul knowing this. Congratulations. Hug
Forget the grass it will probably burn off like last year enjoy this time ignoring it and not worrying about those little things. It is cold here I have no idea where our warmth went. No grass here yet wish there was the cows would love it. HUGS B

Congrats on the 2000th post - I do believe I will never reach that amount. Like Buttons said, soon the dry weather will come and the grass will be gone OR you could tie one of your cattle to the front porch and let him munch - nothing growing here yet - still bad, cold weather.

2000th post WOW ! Awesome ! Congrats ! The sun shines here to this morning but the temps are chilly for now . The weather today and for the next few days are to be lovely here ! I would send Papa to help with the tractor if we lived closer and to cut your grass for you . I do hope you find help with things like that or you could just let it grow or rent the area out to people with horses get payed for it and the grass cut there that could work ! Hope it warms up for you there . Take it easy my friend .

Rainy and gloomy here this morning! Our grass is looking like it could use a mowing also but it has to quit raining first.

Congrats on 2000! That is impressive! Don't worry about the grass. Why don't you buy some goats? They should fit in nicely At the Farm!

Post 2000 is a HUGE deal! Think of all the days, and thoughts, and writing that went into that! If someone told you that your assignment was to write 2000 pieces for publication you would shudder and say "impossible, I can't do that"... and yet you have... and so much good stuff for us to find here, I love your blog!

There are transitional times in life that feel very much like you are standing on the edge and waiting to see if the wind is going to come along and lift you up so you can fly or if it's going to come in gale force and leave you grabbing for branches so that you don't get blown off the cliff. Part of the challenge is doing it day by day and knowing that somehow you'll find the strength to cope on that day as needed. I've also found that some wonderfully surprising things come our way that we never would have hoped, expected, or prayed for. I'm wanting some of those to be part of your days and months ahead, and I am confident that they will be. Today is always different from yesterday, and this year will be different from last, but in the end we will say we had a good life all in all. Sending hugs and hope your way, take me walking again soon, I love your walks, they bring me peace! :-)

I read an article in some country magazine about a man who bought spring lambs, let them 'mow' the lawn all summer, and then sold them back. Would that work?

This is so well written. My favorite: I stand by the fireplace and pull my shirt away so the rising warmth will reach my bare skin. Warming the core of me while I wonder what comes next.

Here's to 2001 posts!

Hi Gail
Sorry it's so long since I wrote, I have been meaning to for ages.
Wow, 2000 posts, that is incredible, well done.
Thank you for your sweet compliments about the mini-me's.
Have you thought about some sheep for your grass, you could get some nice rare breed ones for the wool?

Congratulations! I am getting a few sheep to help with the mowing. Goats don't eat grass - go figure.

Congratulations on 2000 posts. Quite the milestone . . .
All the chores and duties will find there way at being handled. Maybe your grandson could be the new mower man . . .

Gail,

Congratulations my friend for your 2000 post. In no time the posts sure add up. Would you have thought you had so much to share with the world?

Have you considered talking with your neighbors to see if they have animals that can graze on your property to help cut the grass?
