Wednesday Storm Brought Rain...

The rains came
and came
The storm slacked and I was out rubber booting in my holey boots.  Had to see the effects of all that rain in such a short while.
This is normally grass and a dry creek
no longer dry.
Our road about the time my umbrella turned inside out and the lightening began again in earnest.  I decided maybe rubber booting during the storm was not so wise.  It was invigorating. I shall see the damage tomorrow in daylight, repair water gates and check for fence damage.
The second storm coming in persuaded me to go inside.  I felt like a sitting duck in the middle of the storm but how refreshing to witness Nature's power first hand.

The diamonds in the raindrops were a sight that always makes me smile.  Dad used to have us watch for diamonds.  This evening I saw them and smiled thinking of him.

We are safe.  More rain falls as I write.  Can't wait til morning.  I will walking this flooded valley with holey boots and camera in hand.

Hope you stayed safe from the storms.

I love the bit about the "watching for diamonds" - that is just nice. I am amazed how quickly the rain flooded your creek n road - is this a come n go thing, where you gets lots of rain, but then when you need it, its not there - kinda like a wet and dry season? BUY NEW BOOTS GAIL :)

You would have been safe with rubber boots on, but not with an umbrella in your hand like a lightning rod.

I saw the diamonds in snowflakes yesterday. The sun was shining like crazy and there were these amazing huge snowflakes gracing the air. Mother Nature sure does know how to show off. Oma Linda

Gail,

I'm hoping you don't get too much more rain. I tell you with that storm we had so much rain, it came down fast and were still recovering from it. Be careful :-)

Love the pictures of the diamonds in the sky.

Your storms are supposed to arrive on our doorstep after supper tonight. Not looking forward to them as the temperatures are so unseaonably hot it will cause some bad fireworks I'm afraid.
Stay safe

That's all I know is that I can't wait to see all the flowers these damn showers are going to bring! I'm sure the farmers are happy and we need the rain, but still, 5 days in a row is a bit much, yes?

And don't go gallavanting off in a thunderstorm holding a metal umbrella. That's just asking for trouble right there! ;)

I am thinking your storm came from our direction... but we had snow! Luckily it wasn't quite as bad as they predicted. What you endured looks far, far worse!

At least it is moisture but so much just runs off when it comes so fast. At least it isn't snow:)

Wow! Looks like it came hard and fast. We got it all here. Rain, sleet, snow. My pregnant goats were in the barn with the door iced shut so I couldn't get to them. Panic!

Wow, that's a lot of rain! I know the midwest gets downfalls like nobody's business. Hope you are safe and there's no damage.

What wonderful photos! Love the 'diamonds' especially.

Get new boots!!

Boy, you guys are feast and famine on that rain, aren't you?

Stay dry! (Not easy in your boots with holes...)

I think most of the midwest got hit with rain yesterday/last night. Our rain was pretty bad, but the wind was worse. Gusts up to 100mph and 2 tornadoes touched down not far from where I live.

Hope you didn't get washed away in all that rain!

Wow. You got a lot more rain than we did. Hope everything is okay when you go 'walkabout' tomorrow.
I have never seen diamonds in the rain. A good omen for sure!
