Did you ever read Confederates in the Attic? I highly recommend this book. If you can't find it, I will loan you mine. That's if I can find it. It's still buried in the boxes in the basement. My great grandfather fought for the Confederacy. He was from Pedlar Mills, Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley. I don't know any more of his history than that. It simply wasn't discussed up north.
I can't imagine the horrors of this war: brother against brother, slavery, mutilation, starvation, impoverishment and ruin. To travel the battlefields gives one pause. Let's hope, other than in reenactments, we never repeat any of this history.
Every country has its horrors.
I can't even comprehend battling against family. Many battles during the slave years was fought like this. I sure hope we have come a long was baby!

I have never seen a civil war reenactment, but from pictures I bet it would be interesting!
Love the photos! THey do a great re-enactment in my daughter's town. It was fun to watch and wander around in their "town".
