a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Are We Dry??

Sunday I checked out the creek with part of the farm dog team.  Don't know how I got away without the hot peppers but it made for a little calmer exploration.
The elderberries bloom along the creek's edge.
You can tell the creek is low. It is fed by three wet weather springs and two full time springs. I have not seen the creek this low in a very long time.
Tried to capture the water skater
but only his shadow is clear.
Normally I travel up the creek so it remains clear.
This day we traveled down and stirred the silt.
The Borders were having a ball.
Lil tries to catch the water skaters
but never gets one.

There was rain all around us Monday.
We were blessed with one tenth.

What a lovely walk! Its been too long since I waded in a creek! :-) But I'll send some of our rain in your direction--I'm enjoying it, but know that others need it more than us.

I hope you have a good day!

We got about 3/4" on Sunday night/Monday morning but it didn't even really fill the cracks in the soil in. We are still thankful for something as some people did not get any. Sure makes gardening a challenge this year : )

The importance of water. We have too much this month while just a few weeks ago we had to little. Too little and folks complain, too much and they complain! Tsk! The dogs appear happy enough!

I always love to see photos of the creek and its life renewing water. I hope you get enough rain to fill it soon. When will the alder berries be ripe?

I do so love creeks. They are refreshing to just wade and look at.

Love your "Maggie" dog. Every Border Collie is named Maggie. We were in Tahoe this weekend and I was surprised that the pines did not look sickly since we haven't had much rain her in CA either..They were thick and gorgeous.

I love that creek. It reminds me of the one that was on my aunt's land in east Texas where I would go visit in the summers as a kid.

I got a text from my daughter this morning that we were getting a little rain at my house - I'm so thankful. I doubt it's much more than your 1/10th but I suppose anything is better than nothing. blessings, marlene

We're dry here, too. Seems it falls all around us, but never here. :-(

Your turn will come Genie and then you will be showing us that "Gushing" Creek. Our weather has been quite like fall - seems we had our summer for 3 weeks back in Feb n March with those near 97 temps. Tonight you need that sweater or jacket on.
The dogs look like they are having a ball. My Jack would be right in there all the time. Jack loves going down to the river or the bay and is quite the swimmer too.
Great photos of elderberries blooming and the creek and forest and paw-paws. Have a good night

Hope you get some much needed rain soon- pups didn't seem to mind the lower water level. Looks like they had a ball!

There is a large rock in our creek ,I call it the drought rock because I can tell how dry it is by how much of this large rock is dry. It is getting pretty dry and we missed all the rain we were supposed to get last night and today.
Blessings
Marilyn
