a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Prodded, Poked, X-Rayed And Then, Shot...

As I have moaned repeatedly, there is almost no way for any of the postmasters in our area to get a day off.  Many people have retired and for some reason, they are not refilling those positions right now.  All our regular helpers are running other offices so many are working six days a week.

My helper and I have been in this dilemma since last October, just to mention two.  This is one reason, in addition to just plain stupidity, that I have been working sick for Eight weeks.  Hubby went to the doctor and got me some arithmiason(I can't spell) and cough meds.  I have been living on hoarhound candy (not being dirty, old time remedy that helps coughs) and sheer guts.

Someone hired a new helper and we have worked that lady to death.  My opportunity to use her arrived and I made a doctor's appointment.  This doctor is the one who saved my life last year when I could not get rid of a staph infection and just kept working.  My wonderful doctor is also on the local SWAT team and handsome to boot!

Hubby went with me and has decided to switch doctors and use mine!  I don't think it is because Hubby thought he was good looking.

I am dragging this story out...sorry.  Blood tests, chest x-rays, cold stethoscopes, poking, looking, prodding and asking loads of questions.   The conclusion, not pneumonia, YET.  I must not wait eight weeks to come see a doctor, I am one stubborn woman, I am one tough woman and one stupid woman....and I paid for that conclusion, which I had already come to anyway.

Hubby was amazed when the nurse came in and did two injections at the same time.  I do not think I have every had that, always been one then one.  He said she crossed those needles, jabbed and plunged both in one easy motion.  She was very good.  The medicine is all I felt.

Left tired and we ate Chinese out.

Came home and slept all afternoon.

Hubby picked up meds and here is where it got scary.  My med man said, if she is not better in three days, she must go back, this is serious.  I have a bottle of Avelox 400mg...I have no idea what that is but it is supposed to be the best.

I am off until Saturday, we will hope these little pills work their miracle and my old self returns.  I am really tired of this worthless woman that resides inside me now!

Dr. Ann says: "You need to stay in the house, rest and take your meds. No getting in the water and mud, anymore. Let someone else look after the horses for a few days, just sleep, eat and do nothing. You need to let your body do its work, but you need to rest so it can fight the illness., Ok I am done nagging, now go lay down and watch TV, read a book, but, DO NOTHING, NO WORK OF ANY KIND." And stay indoors!

I agree with Dr. Ann, you need to rest and let the meds kick in. Don't make me come down there, ya hear!

God bless and rest sister!

Avelox...big guns. But perhaps he selected this because you had a run in with staph last year.

Get better, girl.

Do not go back to work until you are well. What are they going to do, fire you? Not likely.

Hope that strong medicine makes you feel better fast. It's hard to call in sick on the farm! I've been exactly where you are many times. Blessings to you.

Hope you are feeling better! I was a nurse 20+ years ago, and I never heard of doing the injections that way!
I guess that line about the post office delivering mail through rains, and storms, blah, blah, blah, is right!

The stubborner the woman, the harder they fall....or something like that. You MUST take care of yourself. If you don't NOBODY ELSE WILL! Now take your medicine like a good little girl, rest, drink plenty of fluids and call me in the morning.
