a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

I Can Not Post His Picture...

I shall not embarrass the poor man. I shall use it later for black mail leverage or some other wonderful use.

Had to work yesterday and someone else had to bring my hubby home from the hospital! What a wonderful night we had after I came home from work.

He wanted a shower and so I helped and then we had to call a paramedic friend to help us put the sling back on...neither one of us could figure it out. I was in tears, here he had gone through the surgery and I could not even figure out a blooming arm sling!!!

His medicine, I think, was making him have muscle ticks or spasms so I had calls in to every where to get someone to tell whether this was normal or not...no calls and I sat at the kitchen table til three am waiting.

Up at six to get ready for work and had two phones going at work, one for the doctors, insurance, nurses and home health, one for the job and all the while I was waiting on the sluice of customers that decided to come out today. PLUS I had to do some computer training today, but did not get that done so I am a bad girl, a tired girl and a worried girl, all wrapped up in tight bundles of wires and springs that are fixin' to break and go BONG!

I got home health cornered, doc called, changed his medicine, sister picked that up, therapy will begin Monday. Nurse came today and is coming tomorrow to see if I want to dress the incisions myself, yes, of course I do, add that to feeding the cows, fixing the lawnmower, getting my grandson ready for school, cleaning house and worrying about my oldest daughter (thirty-six)who had a wreck and got arrested, who I raised differently than that, helping the man shower, can I wipe his butt too????? Whew, see why I am going to fall apart? And I did this while waiting on customers with a smile!

I still am wondering what I want to be when I grow up but I do know I will not be a nurse. Help!

What you described is a nurse's life, so there you have it: YOU ARE A NURSE.

Now you tell the home health nurse that you need help, and no honey, I'd really rather you come out to dress his wound. There. Her asking if you wanted to do it, was her way of telling you she's trying to get out of her having to do it. I know these things....

Ask for and accept all help forthcoming. I wish you peace and quiet for a few days at least.

Oh Gail, I just read both posts. Wow. It is so much easier to be the patent than the caregiver. I so hope things get better quick. Your hands are overflowing. Wish I could help.
Big hug.

You sure are having a bad time. If I could I'd at least be able to feed the cows and tidy the kitchen, a bit! Good Luck and keep smiling at all those damned customers. Everything always seems to happen at once--especially the bad things. Hope hubby is feeling better and on the mend soon.

Wow, have you got your hands full! You'll make it though. In the end. Then you can have a nap.

Just don't tell anyone where you are sleeping!

Wow girlie! Reading this wore me out. I agree a bazillion percent with Rudee [and she should know]Accept that help and get some rest.

I am not ambidextrious, but I do know that if my right arm [as I am right handed] was incapacitated I could darn sure wipe my own hiney with my left hand. heehee...still the things we do for love, eh?

Please try and get some rest today - although I am loving the emails.

Hugs!
